How LPG can save the environment

How LPG can save the environment

Why is it important to be thinking about the environment? Respecting the place where we live means loving it as much as ourselves and future generations. For this reason, by considering this statement, it is essential to find out how we can correctly deal with this, making it a priority of our everyday life.

Benefits of LPG

The main issues which affect the environment are related to global warming and air pollution.

From a global warming perspective, fuel selection can play a significant role in reducing emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. As mentioned by LPG Exceptional Energy, LPG generates fewer carbon emissions than gasoline (petrol) and broadly equivalent emissions to diesel.

In addition, the carbon footprint of LPG is 20% lower than that of fuel oil and 50% lower than coal.

LPG therefore helps to reduce CO2 emissions and helps to reduce Black Carbon (BC) emissions, which are the second biggest contributor of global warming and which can cause serious health problems.

As reported by Camping Gas, LPG emits 81% of the CO2 per kWh produced by oil, 70% of that of coal, and less than 50% of that emitted by coal-generated electricity distributed via the grid. Being a mix of propane and butane, LPG emits less carbon per joule than butane but more carbon per joule than propane.

LPG is a clean-burning, sustainable, efficient fuel and a vital source of energy for hundreds of millions of people throughout the world today thanks to a huge range of applications. As a clean, lower carbon, efficient and innovative energy, it offers benefits to consumers, industries and the environment.

As one of the cleanest conventional fuels available, LPG is non-toxic and has no impact on soil, water and underground aquifers, contributing also to improvement of the wellbeing of whole communities.

Indeed, especially for developing rural communities LPG can provide a first modern alternative to traditional cooking fuels (e.g. firewood, charcoal, dung), contributing to a better quality of life and importantly, liberating women and children from time spent collecting fuel.

Furthermore, exposure to a mixture of particles and toxic chemicals, generated when wood or other biomass material is used for indoor cooking, is responsible for widespread sickness and greatly reduced life expectancy for many people living in poorer communities.

As we have already mentioned in a previous blog post, smoke from daily use of solid fuels for cooking is responsible for 3.9 million premature deaths annually, mostly in the form of child pneumonia and chronic lung and circulatory diseases in adults. Highly polluting biomass (wood, crop residues, and dung) and coal cook fuels together account for nearly 5% of the loss of healthy life years from all causes globally, making them the largest environmental health hazard.

According to the World Health Organisation, air pollution with Particular Matter claims an average 8.6 months from the life of every person in the EU.

How LPG Autogas can benefit the environment

Due to the large increase in petrol and diesel, nowadays LPG for cars is becoming more popular as the years go on, as people are becoming more aware of the impact petrol and diesel on the environment and also the reduced costs of converting vehicles to LPG due to better research and competition.

Because of it’s cleaner, greener and cheaper, LPG Autogas is by far the most widely available environmentally friendly alternative fuel with over 1400 refuelling sites throughout the UK, most of which are on petrol forecourts. Recent independent tests have also shown that LPG has the best environmental record compared with petrol and diesel.

LPG is also used in hot air balloons. Hot air balloons have been providing leisure for years and the worlds oldest method of air transport.

Following what has been reported, it appears clear LPG is not only a key alternative to solid fuels in terms of costs, but also for respecting the environment which is the first and authentic richness on the earth we need to save.

Apart from the traditional steel cylinders which, despite the use of LPG could show some gaps in terms of safety and respect for the environment, Aburi composite LPG cylinders are a valid alternative in terms of ensuring both high safety standards and environment protection.

They are 100 % environmentally friendly, in the sense that they are recyclable, and non corrosive, that is adaptable to any kind of weather condition and UV resistant.

In the light of their great impact on the environment, we believe this product needs to reach the global market in order to meet the consumer’s expectations and prospect a better future.
